Future events 2018

  • Wednesday 11 and 18 July 2018: visits with the Friends of Colchester Museums to Landguard Fort, Felixstowe and Hatfield House. Contact Peter Evans Tel: 01206 540 0990 or see Booking Form.
  • Sunday 22 July and Sunday 23 September 2018: Visit with Colchester Civic Society to Foulness, the fourth largest island off the east coast of Essex, near Southend-on-Sea. 6,000 acres of scrub and marshland, owned by the MoD and used as a testing centre for military weapons, but also a haven of wildlife, with barn owls and waders.   • Saturday 25 August 2018: visit to The Dulwich Picture Gallery to see a comprehensive collection of 160 works by Edward Bawden (1903-1939). Booking form available here. Information from Mrs Suki Cohen Tel: 01206 262219
  • Sunday 28 October 2018: Visit with Colchester Civic Society of the Museum of Brands in London. The museum situated around the corner of Portobello Road Market features 12,000 original items from 1800s to the present day. For more information contact Jo Edwards Tel: 07 771 626561
  • Sunday 4 November 2018: Friends 42nd AGM followed by a talk and usual magnificent Tea at the Minories - Details to follow
  • Tuesday 13 November 2018: Annual evening visit to the Theatre Royal, Norwich, for the Glyndebourne Touring Opera's production of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, based on La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas. Details to follow.
  • Late November or early December: support our Friends Christmas Stall once again as part of the Minories seasonal festivities at the Minories.
